Corvette Chassis Detailing Kits Corvette Chassis Detailing Kits
Chassis detailing kits were developed by Quanta, growing out of the needs of restorers who want to be able to reproduce the factory markings on their frames, chassis components, even the inner body panels! These marks were originally used to help identify parts on the assembly line, keep track of a particular car, or to let the line workers know that an assembly had been inspected. Many cars are weathered to the point that these marks are no longer visible. Our kits contain technical bulletins that provide examples of original location and colors of marks. These kits contain everything you need to detail your chassis back to when it rolled off the factory line.
Most of our kits contain a custom-made restoration frame stencil. Years of research allow us to accurately reproduce the stencils applied at the A.O. Smith frame factory. Frame part number stencils were applied by A.O. Smith, Inc. after the frame was painted. These stencils were originally used to track the frames produced. The stencil includes an A.O. Smith part number and/or a GM part number, an A.O. Smith "dash" number, and on many years, a date. You benefit from our thorough research of Corvette frames including when the numbers changed, when the size changed, what colors were used to apply the stencils, when the character style changed, where the stencil was applied on each year car, and when dates were included. With the help of our database of documented original stencils we will custom make your frame stencil based on your car’s serial number. A technical bulletin describing stencil placement is included with your stencil. If you’ve found numbers or portions of numbers, send us a picture and we can exactly reproduce your original stencil. Please have your VIN number available when ordering.
