Step 20. Use the retaining cam (lock ring) removal tool, part number 20-LRW to remove and examine the old sending unit.

Step 21. A rubber O-ring comes with Quanta Products GasTanks.com Corvette gas tank and sending unit. It is also sold separately as part number 20-13. Soak the o-ring in motor oil for a few minutes to aid subsequent installation.

Step 24. The sending unit is indexed to the tank gauge hole so that the tube faces the correct direction.

Step 25. Place the retaining cam (lock ring), which is included with each Quanta Products GasTanks.com gas tank or sending unit, over the sender and use the retaining cam (lock ring) tool (20-LRW), pressing down and turning the lock ring. The retaining cam is also sold separately as part number 20-14.

Step 26. Each 1963-67 Corvette tank was stenciled at O.L. Anderson prior to shipping to St. Louis for installation. Quanta Products sells GM licensed gas tank stencils for you to stencil your new tank. Stencils were black or white, depending on the year. Stencils usually contain the destination plant and the part number, although deviations exist. Tank stencils can often be found on the sides of the original tanks and we are please to match yours if you so choose. Select Quanta Products part number 02-03A or 02-03B gas tank stencil.
Tape the stencil to the side of the tank.

Step 27. Stenciled numbers were often applied with a brush or roller but fast drying spray stencil ink is much more convenient. Select Quanta Products GasTanks.com part number 07-17D or 07-17A.
.
Brush marks or roller marks often go over the edge of the stencil as was found on the original tank. This can easily be duplicated.
